We decide a few weeeks back that we would actually book a b&b in the Otways.
We drove down on saturday last week down the Great Ocean Rd marvelling at the spectactular views. We stopped and had lunch in Lorne. We bought sandwiches and sat in the park near the beach.
Lorne is really starting to get built up, it's been years since i had driven through there. Wow!
We headed into Apollo bay stopped for a minute or two...then proceeded to book in at the b&b. (see pic above for view from front balcony at dusk)
It was starting to get cold and we got settled and built a fire....a nice cup of potted tea greeted us on arrival.
We sat down for a while in the lounge room and met the other people who had also booked rooms. Jeff and Bronwyn were an older couple from Dandenong and were nice. We had dinner there which was ok...tucked in early for a big sunday. Sunday morning we had breaky paid and left the b&b.
We drove through to Melba Gully, a national park rainforest walk, so we could go and see the big tree....and it certainly was big. A nice walk too.
We then headed to the Otway Fly. This is a structure built amongst the tree tops of the rainforest in the Otways, where you can walk along a gangway 30 metres off the ground.
It is very safe and VERY HIGH.
After about 2 hours of walking in the sky...we headed to Colac to have some lunch....but decided instead to continue on to Geelong.
Along the way, we happened across a strawberry plantation, where you can pick your own.
We picked about a kilo of our own strawberries and paid a lot less than in the supermarket...and they were oh so tasty...and fresh.
We drove into Geelong and down to the waterfront where we shared tapas and had a beer each, before walking back along the boardwalk to our car and headed for home.
